Made by a women’s artisan group in Baucau Municipality, Timor-Leste, this unique hat is crafted using recycled coconut fiber (coconut coir)—a natural and organic material that transforms coconut waste into a valuable handmade product.

Developed through the Coconut Coir Production and Prototyping Training under the Brand Timor Initiative, this product represents a commitment to sustainable production, women’s economic empowerment, and the creation of environmentally responsible alternatives using locally available resources.

The design of the Handcrafted Coconut Fiber Cowboy Hat was developed through a collaboration between the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Timor-Leste (AEMTL), the International Labour Organization (ILO), and the European Union (EU). Inspired by modern fashion while maintaining the natural beauty of coconut fiber, this hat reflects the combination of creativity, sustainability, and Timorese craftsmanship.
